You want to show that your farm is active and engaged in the industry. One important way of doing this is to issue regular announcements and press releases.

A press release is a brief document (usually one page) written and formatted in a specific way to tell journalists and editors your news, in hopes they will include a story about your farm in their newspaper or magazine.

Now with the Internet, press releases reach more than just members of the media – everyday people interested in the alpaca industry can also find your press releases when they’re searching for information online.

Making these news items and announcements available on your site in a particular area called a pressroom also helps portray a professional image, supporting the extra exposure you’re trying to generate. Creating a media-friendly pressroom can help you get more coverage by the media and now bloggers, too, extending your news to a bigger audience.

Your pressroom is also a section of your site that other farmers will visit to see what’s going on at your farm. Here you could feature full-length press releases, which you’re also submitting to your local and national news outlets, or you could simply show brief announcements - it's completely up to you.

If you do use press releases as part of your marketing efforts, it’s always a good idea to display them in your pressroom so any members of the media, even if it’s just your local newspaper, can find them easily on your website. You’ll want to dedicate a page to each press release you issue.
